Rickroll

You’ve seen (part of) the troll, now for the other half – The rickroll.

The rickroll involves baiting a target to click on a link that appears relevant to the topic and linking to the song “Never Gunna Give You Up” by Rick Astley- Therefore coining the term Rick-Roll’d.

I understand the Rick Part, but why the Roll’d?

4chan is pretty much the start of all memes. Before the rickroll there was a practice called Duck Roll’d. There is the basis for the Roll’d part (more on duckrolling later).

My Experience with the Rickroll

I LOVE the game Age of Empires 3. Problem is, the company that made it broke up, making many unsure about the future of the series. over the years people have pretended to unearth news stories about its release/announcement, but the links were actually rickrolled.

In this Rick talks about how he had little to no idea about what was happening and how he felt embarrased by it at first, but now he just finds it funny.

OMG Cat

Ah, OMG Cat… One of many internet memes revolving around cats circulating the internet…

What is it with the internet and cats really?

Back on topic, OMG Cat refers to a cat named “Chocolate” who somehow got a dislocated jaw in March 2010.

His owner then worryingly posted asking for help in a Japanese forum called “2chan” (more information here ). Why would you ask for help on a forum???

The cat then became an instant hit.
